The Geographic Information Systems Laboratory (uSIG) is a scientific-technical laboratory, belonging to the Centre for Humanities and Social Sciences (CCHS) of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). We work on Geographic Information Technologies (GIS, web mapping, remote sensing, digital cartography, etc.), applied to Humanities and Social Sciences research; basing our work on transversality, innovation and interdisciplanirity.
Consultancy and scientific-technical services in the field of georeferenced scientific data modelling, integration and harmonization; geographic databases, spatial analysis, 2D and 3D modelling, digital cartography, map viewers, digital projects hosting and preservation, data mining, linked open data, Semantic Web, etc.
Standards-based geoportals to ensure data and systems interoperability. Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDI) are the most suitable solution to share and publish georeferenced thematic data on the Internet, by the setting and integration of standards, technical protocols, information policies, etc. Furthermore, including the general access to scientific research results and the maintenance of that information.
SerGeo is an application for the downloading of basic geographic reference information, which comes from different sources and sensors, and has diverse scales, formats and collection dates.
This service is for the exclusive use of CSIC employees.
